This print was produced as part of a collaborative project for an exhibition in Manchester's Free For Arts Festival. My collaboration partner, Nicola Colcough, and I went about creating our work in response to photo lots that we bought for each other on eBay.

How does a person lose her photographs of a family holiday to Maimi in the 1980's? By what process do they end up in the hands of an eBay salesman? These photographs are like little windows into other people's dearest memories. And it's fascinating. I felt at first like a voyeur. Then I just felt sad. I started to work on a number of pencil drawings of the people in my photographs. As they developed, I started to leave off heads, limbs, hands, feet. I was adding another layer of fog to an already fragmented and forgotten memory. I randomly titled my pencil drawings with fragments taken from found bookmarks. Taking one particular drawing, I scanned and increased it in size, turning it into a halftone image. Another layer of fog. I then separated the halftone into three colours in order to create this screen print, "The Place of Slaughter".
